06.09.2015

Between 3rd and 5th September 2015, the Consortium International Lectura si Scrierea pentru Dezvoltarea Gandirii Critice (Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking International Consortium - RWCT IC) and its partners within the Literacy Cubed – Focus on Roma Families (LIT3) organized the final conference of the project. This three-day event brought together local project teams, the stakeholders of the LIT3 project – the representatives of local public authorities in education, the social security system, non-governmental organizations and universities – as well as the delegates of Romanian and other European non-governmental organizations, active in the field of Roma education. In addition to the learning details about the LIT3 project, the outputs and outcomes and attending presentations about the promising practices targeting Roma inclusion through education, the conference participants discussed the local family literacy strategies, drafted by the stakeholders’ working groups in Podgorica (Montenegro), Dolny Kubin (Slovakia) and Cluj-Napoca (Romania), respectively, and the specific effective ways to ensure project sustainability.

LIT3 promotes family literacy (reading and health) in the disadvantaged Roma communities as a tool for raising the attainment level of Roma children in general education and improving their health.
