Description of the situation

In the field of health, continued systematic work is being done on increasing the coverage of the Roma population with health insurance by increasing the availability of health services to the Roma population, improving the health of infants and children, equating the vaccination of children of the Roma national minority with the rest of the population, and improving the number of vaccinations; the work to improve the health of infants and children of the Roma national minorities through health measures aimed at eliminating the most frequent causes of morbidity and death, with the implementation of health education for parents and preventive and curative health care measures, and the implementation of other measures aimed at improving the health and health care of the Roma population. Visible progress in the implementation of health education of parents aimed at improving health habits. Although there is not enough data available, the activities of the county public health, for example in Bjelovarsko-Bilogorska, Međimurska and Primorsko-goranska County indicate that the vaccination coverage for children, with additional activities, reaches the level of vaccination rate of other children. Some county public health departments have conducted additional activities to improve the health of infants and children of the Roma national minority, for example the continued health surveillance in primary schools because of the problems with lice.

 

Roma population by age 

 

Roma population is a fairly young population. The main reason for such data is the fact that Roma population lives in poor conditions and most of them have little or no medical care at all.
