Roma who have the status of citizens in Croatia are entitled to health care in accordance with the provisions of the Health Care and Health Insurance Act, in the same way and under the same conditions as all other Croatian citizens. For those Roma without citizenship, the conditions and manners of the implementation of health care are defined by the Law on Health Care of Aliens in the Republic of Croatia. Due to the high unemployment rate, a very small number of working-age Roma is actively secured.

Description of the situation

In the field of health, continued systematic work is being done on increasing the coverage of the Roma population with health insurance by increasing the availability of health services to the Roma population, improving the health of infants and children, equating the vaccination of children of the Roma national minority with the rest of the population, and improving the number of vaccinations; the work to improve the health of infants and children of the Roma national minorities through health measures aimed at eliminating the most frequent causes of morbidity and death, with the implementation of health education for parents and preventive and curative health care measures, and the implementation of other measures aimed at improving the health and health care of the Roma population.
