In the scope of the national radio and television, there are Roma shows regularly presented, while also the Roma information centre - ROMIC operates well and has acquired its radio frequency.

 

For several years, the Slovenian Police has carried out the trainings of the policemen to work in a multicultural community pursuant to the verified programme Knowing the stereotypes, where special attention is paid to the work with the Roma community members. The upgrade of the basic training is the learning of language basics, in this case the languages of two Roma dialects. Within the scope of the programme, also the workshops with preventive content are conducted with the purpose to raise the community awareness with positive legislation. The good practice of the Police has also transferred to other public officials who are dealing with the Roma community members. Thus, a series of trainings for employees in primary schools, social work centres and employment services were carried out during the 2010-2013 period. The activities are about to be expanded in the coming years (Third report of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the situation of the Roma community in Slovenia - Report in the implementation of the Roma Community Act in the Republic of Slovenia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No 33/2007) and the National Programme of Measures for Roma of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the 2010-2015 period, p.14).

 

The Police has started to carry out the activities related to the 'SKUPA-J' project in 2013. The project is intended to support national activities in the campaign against discrimination and stimulating the equality. The main objective of the 'SKUPA-J' project is to raise the awareness of public officials, the Roma and general public in order to do away with obstacles and improve the quality of co-existence (Third report of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the situation of the Roma community in Slovenia - Report in the implementation of the Roma Community Act in the Republic of Slovenia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No 33/2007) and the National Programme of Measures for Roma of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the 2010-2015 period, p.15).
