Description of the situation
The Slovenian national strategy of the Roma integration lays down a plan for public policies in the field of social integration of the Roma. The strategy is a result of the cooperation between local authorities, civil society and Roma representatives. The objective of the strategy is to gradually eliminate the poverty and social exclusion of the members of the Roma ethnic minority, and it focuses on the Roma children, education, employment, health care and solving of residential issues.
The integration of the Roma, general awareness raising and a campaign against discrimination are of key importance. With the help of Roma assistants and agents, Slovenia wants to integrate Roma children in the process of education, i.e. the pre-school education, which is a basis for the children integration and development.
