Summary (goals and purposes of the project)
People's Library Metlika has been preparing and implementing the project "Roma people invited to the library" in collaboration with the Centre for Social Work Metlika since 2003. In addition to the events for the Roma which are prepared in the library, they organize individual events for children, such as fairy tale hours, puppet shows, creative workshops, etc. in Roma settlements.

Results of the project
The project has received the award IRA (The International Reading Association) for an innovative project to promote reading in Europe in 2011 (Award for Innovative Reading Promotion in Europe 2011).

The project brings the library closer to the Roma in Metlika really successfully, which is shown by the fact that the library in Metlika currently affiliates more than 60 Roma, mostly Roma children. Before the project very few Roma people visited the library and only occasionally.
