Summary (goals and purposes of the project)
On the social eco-farm Korenika they started to work intensively on the development of tourist facilities, which is highly complementary to sales and production, to develop the range of products of social entrepreneurship in Pomurje. Thus, they organize science days for schoolchildren, tours of the farm, carrying out various workshops and offer eco meals for organized groups.

The planned project activities are:

- the training and employment of target vulnerable groups in the development of tourism in the eco-social-farm Korenika,
- development programmes and the strengthening of infrastructure for tourism development in the eco-social-farm Korenika,
- the presentation and promotion of tourism in the eco-social-farm Korenika

Results of the project
All ongoing project activities will efficiently exploit all available opportunities that exist in the Pomurje region, the scope of the social, natural and cultural capital.

The mission of the Institute Korenika, Šalovci, is the creation of new jobs, training and employment of persons from vulnerable social groups in workplaces engaged in activities related to organic agriculture, organic food processing and processing of regional food products of higher quality.

Products and services formed in this way are marketed jointly in the context of a comprehensive range of quality local products that they offer to their customers. The added value generated in this way includes the contribution of all employees, including vulnerable target groups.

In the first phase of the project, a herb garden and an outdoor space for the entertainment of visitors was established, in the second part the refurbishment of an existing outbuilding into an exhibition / workshop / sales area. 12 persons from vulnerable target groups, including the members of the Roma community were trained under the training of traditional farm tasks such as plowing, sowing, harvesting and threshing. There were various ethnological events, where they practically saw the traditional customs and crafts. 3 people from vulnerable target groups were employed during the project for a period of at least 18 months.


Who will benefit from this project (target group)
Vulnerable target groups are:

- persons older than 50 years,
- members of the Roma community,
- young people up to the age of 25 years with no or low levels of education,
- the disabled,
- the homeless.

Sources of funding
The project was partially financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund. The project is implemented under the Operational Programme Human Resources Development for the period 2007-2013, the fourth development priority: "Equal opportunities and reinforcing social inclusion" priority 4.1. "Equal opportunities in the labor market and strengthen social inclusion."

The total value of the project is € 312,552.75, of which € 299,952.75 height obtained funding from the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs. The remaining was co-financed by the Municipality of Šalovci.
