Summary (goals and purposes of the project)
The vocational position of the Roma minority in the country is bad, we might even say that there is no employment of the Roma. The main reason is the lack of formal education, along with the prejudices and discriminating practices of employers.

ZIK Črnomelj has a long history of enabling and encouraging the education of the Roma in Bela Krajina region, within the Vocational Guidance and Information for Roma (PISR) project, however, they want to further improve their chances for employment.

The basic foundation for the project is based on a national strategy for schooling and education of the Roma in the Republic of Slovenia, published in 2004. The strategy contains the principles and goals aimed at more successful integration of the Roma in the educational system.

Based on field work, educational and vocational interests of adult members of Roma minority were gathered, and the results will be basis for planning project activities.

Main goals of the project are:
- to reform and supplement the concept of vocational Guidance and Information for Roma minority with emphasis on younger Roma men and women.
- to make framework for local coordination and train local Roma coordinators to make facilitate easier access to educational options, integration and inclusion in the processes of decision making
- to encourage preparation of strategy for adult Roma education in local/regional environment, based on interests of Roma and the needs of communities they live in.

Results of the project
Based on research, a programme of training, vocational guidance and information for the Roma was implemented and an action plan for adult Roma education was formed. The project contributed to the integration of the Roma minority in the processes of lifelong learning, better awareness of the Roma ethnic minority and it provided a starting point for planning and implementing a local, regional and national strategy of the education and employment of adult Roma. Research findings and professional articles were published. Within the project programme for a Roma coordinator, the training was conceived and implemented.

Who will benefit from this project (target group)
The target group of the project were the Roma minority living in Novo mest, Trebnje, Kočevje, and Krško regions, as well as the members of the Roma minority in Slovenia in general, within the action plan for the education of adult Roma. Roma coordinators were present in most of the municipalities after the pilot was done in PISR.
