Summary (goals and purposes of the project)
This project aims to create an International Remembrance Network aimed at raising awareness about the Roma and Sinti Holocaust in order to fight discrimination, prejudices and stereotypes about these communities. By rediscovering the relatively unknown history of the Roma and Sinti Holocaust, we expect to promote tolerance, mutual understanding, and intercultural dialogue between the Roma and non-Roma.
Results of the project
Main outputs:
• a documentary on the Roma and Sinti Holocaust with interviews with the survivors (Rita Prigmore and Zoni Weisz) and experts (Huub van Baar and Patrick Desbois);
• the creation of an International Remembrance Network formed by organisations, Roma activists, institutions, associations and museums working on or interested in the Roma Holocaust;
• 5 national workshops to collect recommendations and joint actions to raise awareness about the Roma Holocaust at the national level and to enlarge the International Remembrance Network;
• 5 national debates to raise awareness about the Roma Holocaust;
• a final conference to disseminate results and to enlarge the International Remembrance Network;
