Summary (goals and purposes of the project)
We are currently running a project in cooperation with dr. Ámbédkar school. Learning experience form this we plan organise human rights trainings and compile a Human rights handbook. We use participatory methodologies in working on human rights related issues that have relevance in their everyday lives. We organise trainings i. e. on gender roles, communicating with local authorities including the police and on civil liberties. Our activities include workshops for teachers on human rights issues and on the integration of these topics and methods into the local curricula.Close cooperation with dr. Ámbédkar school (planning and project sustainability) through a project coordinating team that include representatives of participating schools. We will reach out to local stake-holders for their involvement.

Results of the project
Our project aims at empowering students and adults living and working at Ózd microregion. Our goal is to use human rights education as a tool in bringing about change in their attitude in becoming aware of and standing up for their rights. We plan to deliver empowerment workshops for 150 student and 60 teacher participants.

Who will benefit from this project (target group)
In this area unemployment is one of the highest in the country, generations of (mostly but not solely) Roma families living in deep poverty failed to receive proper education and they face constant ethnic tensions. We plan to work with students and teachers in: Borsodnádasd, Domaháza, Ózd.
